One Month

Joel & Alyssa were one month old last Saturday. They celebrated by having a visit from Grandma & Grandpa!

Grandma & Joel

Grandpa & Alyssa

This last week Joel reached 5 pounds, and Alyssa is not far behind. Their legs and arms have some meat on them now. And their cheeks have gotten chubby too. Today I noticed that they are wearing newborn size diapers now instead of preemie diapers!

I got to help give them a bath this week. They both enjoyed it.

Kaitlyn

Kaitlyn has gone to visit the babies a few times. One of her favorite parts is washing her hands :)

Last weekend we took Kaitlyn to a park with a petting zoo, and she enjoyed meeting some animals.

She loved the bunnies.

And the goats, horses and pigs.

She also liked the chickens :)

And she also got to play.

Kaitlyn has also been enjoying playing with the baby things we have been getting out of the closet and collecting. I was worried the bouncy seat would break, but it hasn't yet. She loves to lay in it and play with the toys!

This week we got rid of the infant carseat that she used, since we needed to get new ones for the babies. So I took one last picture of her in it to compare with the first ones.

Clothes!

Joel got to start wearing clothes today. He looked awfully cute! In the next day or two he should be moving out of his incubator and into a bassinet. Yay!

Alyssa will be a few days behind, as she weighs a few ounces less.

Two Weeks

Joel & Alyssa are two weeks old today. It's hard to believe it has been that long already.

They are still doing great. Both of them have had their PICC lines removed. Joel has had his oxygen tube removed, and Alyssa should have hers removed in the next day or two. Both are spitting up a lot, but are doing well digesting the milk being pumped into their stomachs.

My mother in law has been staying with us, which has been a huge help. With my mind so filled with the babies, and with visiting the hospital for several hours everyday, it has been so wonderful to not have to worry about Kaitlyn being taken care of.

Besides visiting the hospital, I spend a lot of time pumping milk. About two and a half hours a day I spend hooked up to my pump, even setting my alarm to wake me up in the middle of the night to pump. It is pretty amazing that with all the things the doctors have to take care of the babies, they can't manufacture all the wonderful things that come from the milk from Mommy.

Joel & Alyssa just look sweeter everyday. Holding them for about two hours during the day just makes my heart so happy. And then leaving them just breaks it again.

First time holding them together....wonderful!

They're holding hands!

Kaitlyn is TWO.

Kaitlyn turned two on Monday. It's hard to believe we have a two year old in the house now. It's also hard to believe that we have three kids who all have birthdays within two weeks of each other.

We had a nice birthday party on Saturday. My parents did a great job of throwing the party, where everything was decorated with Kaitlyn's favorite....ELMO!

It was tough for me to try to have a good time, when all I could think about was Joel & Alyssa. After crying for a few minutes I felt a little better and was able to enjoy the rest of the day with my family.
