A Few Days of Summer

We have had a few days of summer among a lot of days of rain. Being pregnant, I don't mind the cool June we have had!

Catching Up

I'm a little behind on posting pictures!

Kaitlyn found a piece of chocolate while I was in the shower one day and made a huge mess. OOPS!

Daddy brought home a singing Elmo he found at Value Village. The funny part is when Kaitlyn is jumping up and down she is not looking at Elmo, but at the reflection of herself in the computer screen :)

Grandma got a new pool for Kaitlyn! Here are some pics from Kaitlyn's first swim of the season.

Kaitlyn got a new toy to play with, that balls pop out of. I like how it makes her hair blow!

Kaitlyn loves to read books! Here she is reading to herself.

And here is my 5 month picture, though it's already a couple of weeks old.

Uh-oh

I've been teaching Kaitlyn to say "uh-oh" the last couple of days. Right now she is building a tower of blocks, knocking it down, and saying "uh-oh" over and over. I think she's got it, and it is so cute!

BOY + GIRL

We found out we are expecting a BOY and a GIRL. Paul is happy to have at least one boy, and I am happy that the girls will still outnumber the boys in the family. We also get to reuse the boxes of girl clothes that we have in the closet, and get new boy clothes too! It is also nice to know the babies are fraternal, and we won't have to worry about mixing them up the first few weeks after they are born. I'm also thinking that it will be easier for people to see them as individuals and not just "the twins" since they have different genders.

I also met with a perinatologist (doctor for high risk pregnancy) and talked about my history of high blood pressure and pre-ecclampsia during pregnancy. Having multiples definitely increase my chances of having them again since there is so much more strain on my body. I started a very low dose of medication to lower my blood pressure and a low dose of asprin to lower my chances of pre-ecclampsia. Hopefully keeping my blood pressure under control will also lower my chances of pre-ecclampsia. I also got a blood pressure monitor so I can check my bp at home every day. Pregnancy sure brings a lot of fun things to do.

The last two weeks or so I have really started to feel a lot of pain. Moving hurts....standing up, walking, rolling over in bed....everything I do hurts. I can hardly imagine how I will feel in a few more months.

But the good news is that I am feeling the babies move more! It is so fun to feel them moving and think about how there really are little people in there. They are two of God's many miracles!

4 Months and Growing

Another month has gone by and the twins and I are sure growing! This month I have slowed down a lot. I am not able to do very much before I need to sit down and rest for awhile.

I had a regular OB appointment on Monday and with her small hand-held ultrasound machine my doctor could see that the babies had healthy heartbeats, and that they had their heads out to my sides and their bottoms and feet together in the middle. I couldn't see too much on the small screen, but she said they were very cute.

Tomorrow is a big day! I have a long ultrasound scheduled. Hopefully we will be able to find if these babies are boys or girls, and hear that they look very healthy. Also, I am meeting with a specialist to talk about my history of high blood pressure during pregnancy. I'm guessing that I will have to go on medication for my blood pressure at some point this time around with the added stress of two babies, but hopefully not yet this week.

I am about halfway through my pregnancy, since we expect twins to come early. It's hard to imagine how big I am still going to get and how uncomfortable I will be. But it's all worth it, right?

Toddler Bed

Last week someone gave us two toddler beds! Kaitlyn has been sleeping in one of them for a week now and she is doing great in it. Now we just have to figure out what to do with the second toddler bed until the twins are ready for them.

Easter Weekend

We had a fun Easter weekend in Moses Lake visiting Paul's family. Here's some pictures!

Kaitlyn loved spending time with her Grandma! She got a new book, which they read many many times.

Kaitlyn also had fun playing in the backyard. She played pickleball with Daddy and Grandpa.

And she always loves a trip to the park!

She is really getting good at climbing up and going down the slide all by herself!

Happy Easter!
